Evelien Prakke

Evelien (violoncello) heard after initial piano lessons a cello in a concert and decided that was what she wanted to do in life. Evelien studied in Amsterdam with Dmitri Ferschtman and at Indiana University in Bloomington with Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi.
As a student she played in the European Community Youth Orchestra. She is now Coprincipal Cellist with the Dutch Ballet Orchestra. In Spain she has been a Guest Principal Cellist with the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada and last season she was a guest Principal with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a regular guest with Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and plays with the recently founded exciting new group LUDWIG. Together with violinist Hebe Mensinga, she was part of the Delos Ensemble touring the Netherlands, Syria, Libanon, Bosnia, France and the UK. Active in the field of Chambermusic, Evelien recently performed a Solo Program of Bach and Ligeti in Freiburg, Germany and in the Swiss town Neuchâtel. This season she initiated an intimate monthly Chambermusic Series in 25/7 at Entrepotdok in the Centre of Amsterdam, called “Bach & Brunch.”
