Duo Calore: Jacqueline Hehakaya & Bart Bakker

Bart Bakker

Bart is born in Sneek (Friesland- the Netherlands). Started piano lessons at age 7, and from his 9th year onwards added the flute to his life. Studied at an early as age, at 15 in several “Hoge Scholen der Muziek”. First in Leeuwarden with flutist Lenz Derogee and pianist Jan Marisse Huizing, later in Arnhem under the great flute teacher Rien de Reede (flutist with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) and pianist Arthur Hartong.

He played in the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands, the European Youth Orchestra (Claudio Abbado) and later in the Frysk Orchestra (FO) and the Arnhem Philharmonic Orchestra (HGO). He has given solo performances with various orchestras as well as numerous recitals, mostly together with his wife Jacqueline Hehakaya. This past year, he did several gigs on the Costa Blanca.

Jacqueline Hehakaya

Jacqueline is born in Olst (Overijssel-Netherlands). Received her first piano lessons at age 6, first privately and later at the Municipal Music School in Deventer. For her professional studies she attended the “Hoge Scholen der Muziek” in Arnhem with Noor-Steier Relijk.

She continued her studies under guidance of Willem Brons. She also took courses with Jos van Immerzeel and Glen Wilson. She was for many years a member of the trio Donizetti, Donizetti Quartet and the Trio Alicante. After graduating Jacqueline started together with her husband Bart Bakker the Duo Calore. In addition she accompanies many other instrumentalists, singers and choirs.
