Adrian van Dongen
Receiving a scholarship in 1982 to study with Yo Yo Ma, who praised him for his ‘great sound and technique’, he began his career performing cello concertos of Schumann, Boccherini, Lalo, Kabalevsky and Beethoven’s triple concerto’ among others. He performed in international festivals like Czech Spring, Concentus Moraviae, Holland Festival Amsterdam and in festivals in Athens, Madrid, Perugia, Murcia, Mallorca and St.Petersburg. He participated in masterclasses with J. Starker, H. Schiff, T. de Machula and M. Pressler and completed his studies in Paris with Ph. Můller.
In 1986 he entered the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra as second principal cellist. In 1991 he was appointed to the same position in the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra in Amsterdam, working with conductors like V. Gergiev, Sir C. Davis, L. Maazel, D. Kitaenko, D. Kitaenko and Cl. Abbado and performing in the worlds finest concert halls like Suntory Hall, Tokyo; Concertgebouw; Royal Albert Hall and Berliner Philharmonie. In 1998 he recorded chamber music works by B.Bartok, the first Rhapsody for cello and piano and the piano quintet.
In 2003 he made a successful European tour with pianist D. Sukhovienho, with recitals in Geneva, Montreux, Zermatt, Brussels and Amsterdam, performing works by Rachmaninoff, Prokofjev, Glazoenov and Strawinsky, which was released on a live CD and broadcasted by Swiss Radio. He has broadcasted on Dutch Radio, the BRT, Radio France, Radio Suisse Romande, RNE and Tsjech Radio and has made several recordings on compact disc. He collaborated on stage with artists as Ch. Zacharias, Ph. Entremont, G. Sharon, Cl. Delangle, G. Poulet, Ph. Bianconi and I. van Keulen.

Adrian van Dongen, renowned pedagogue, whose pupils have won prices in various competitions and play in major international orchestras ( Amsterdam, Helsinki, Bilbao, Valencia, Lausanne, Mexico City) has been Professor of cello and methodology at the Conservatory of Rotterdam (1983-2011) and at the American Conservatory in Fontainebleau, France ( 1998-2004). He is founder and artistic director of the International Music festival Valencia.

Adrian van Dongen. Becado en 1982 por el propio Yo Yo Ma quien le elogió por su ‘’gran sonido y técnica’’, Adrian van Dongen estudió en Rotterdam donde obtuvo su diploma de solista en 1981. Participó en clases magistrales con Heinrich Schiff, Janos Starker, Tibor de Machula y Menachem Pressler y completó sus estudios en Paris con Philippe Müller. En 1986 entró en the “Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra” como cosolista de chelo.
En 1991 fue nombrado para la misma posición en the “Netherlands Chamber Orchestra” en Amsterdam. Ha trabajado bajo la batuta de directores como Sir Colin Davis, Cl. Abbado, D. Kitaenko, D. Zinman, V. Gergiev, A. Lazarev, Y. Traub, L. Maazel e.o. Ha dado clases magistrales en la mayoría de los países Europeos, Japón, Rusia y Estados Unidos y actuaba como solista en Festivales en Atenas, Madrid, Holland Festival, Perugia, Mallorca, Murcia, St. Petersburgo, Czech Spring Festival y Concentus Moraviae.
Su música fue emitída en la radio Holandesa, la “BRT” (radio Belga), la RNE, Radio France, la Radio Checa y Radio “Suisse Romande” y realizó varias grabaciones en compact disc. Es músico de cámara en ‘’ The Art Tango Ensemble”, “Solistas del Mediterráneo” y el “Arensky Pianotrio” y ha compartido escenario con artistas cómo Christian Zacharias, Philippe Entremont, Claude Delangle, Gil Sharon, Gerard Poulet y Isabelle van Keulen e.o.
En 2004 se trasladó a España y fue invitado a dar masterclasses en Madrid, Benidorm, Barcelona, Valencia, Castellón, Huesca, Ibiza e.o. Es miembro del Trio Prisma, conjunto que debutó en Salle Cortot en París en 2009, en la Sala Iturbi de Valencia en 2008 y que actúa regularmente en España, Chequia y otros países Europeos.
Es fundador del Conjunto Barocco Valencia, un grupo que se dedica en interpretar la música Baroccca en estilo auténtico.
Adrian van Dongen, pedagogo reconocido, cuyos alumnos son miembros de orquestas internacionales (Helsinki, Mexico City, Valencia, Amsterdam, Lausana, Bilbao, Hilversum e.o.), ha sido catedrático de violonchelo en el Conservatorio Superior de Rotterdam (1983-2011) y profesor de cello y música da cámara en el ‘’ Conservatoire Americain’’ en Fontainebleau, Francia (1998-2004).Es fundador y director artístico del International Music Festival Valencia.
